Hello SIMMTECH Family,
I am sending you the first morning letter of the New Year. I wish that you and your family will be healthy and happy, and also that God's grace will be with you.
In my last morning letter, I described the economic condition as a "down turn market," and the condition got worse and now can be expressed as "recession". We have seen how the global financial crisis, which started in America, became a real economic crisis since last October. This crisis also had an impact on the PCB industry, and we are suffering more than expected. I don't think any can escape from this difficult situation.
However, one thing for sure is that this condition will pass by, and an upturn market will return. For those who survive, depending on how they respond to such difficult situation, will have different outcomes later on.
"Let's turn this crisis turn into opportunity!"
To make this happen, we first need to clearly understand where we are. Then, we need to fully focus on what we can do. First of all, let's go back to the fundamental of our strategy to figure out where we are. The fundamental of our strategy is to focus on our customers and products.
Let's get a better understanding of our position based on the following three facts.
First, our customers.
Our customers are the industry leaders. Our strategy was to be their major supplier, and we have proved this by obtaining more than 25% of the global market share in MMB and BOC products.
Second, the manufacturing competitiveness.
We've been united as one for the past 22 years, and this power of unity enabled us to make products that our customers wanted at low cost.
It was not just a chant between us. Last December, this was proven by the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy when 2 of our products were selected as part of the 137 world's first class products.
Third, the risk management system.
SIMMTECH has been sharing all the company information through Integrity management and ERP system. We are now able to make quick decisions and correspond promptly by empowering lower level employees get involved in decision making process.
With the three aforementioned facts, we now better realize where we are in the global PCB industry.
The next thing we need to think about is what we can do and what we can't do. Can we achieve such things like global business recovery, financial crisis recovery or stabilizing foreign exchange rate by working hard?
The answer is "NO".
However, we can do things like increasing market share, increasing manufacturing competitiveness, developing technology, and purchasing good-quality raw materials at low cost. Let us not worry or be afraid of things that we can't control, but rather work hard on what we can do.
Although everyone thinks this year is going to be another difficult one, I strongly believe that we can turn this risk into a golden opportunity by having such attitude. And this will allow SIMMTECH to grow to a first class global company.
I am sure that everyone has had a train ride. It gets very dark when a train enters a tunnel even though it is bright outside. For a moment we feel fear, but shortly after we relax. Why is this so? We know that a tunnel has an end, and that train does not go on any roads but only on railroads.
I heard many people comparing a tunnel to difficult times. That is right! We are passing through a tunnel called a major recession. However, let's not forget the fact that we are running on fixed railroads.
This is exactly where we are. The scariest moment is looking at the tunnel prior to entering it. However, we all need to believe that there is a railroad track that supports us down below. Let's run hard with all that we've accumulated until now.
Then we will soon find ourselves like a train coming out of a tunnel and running into the bright daylight.
