Any one who has recently visited Japan or America must have done the fingerprinting procedure at the airport's immigration. The wave-like shapes at the end of our fingertips are so unique that no one has the same finger print amongst 6 billion people around the world.
Just how any object that we touch will have our unique fingerprints, we leave our traces to the people, organization or work that we are associated with. What traces do you leave behind to each other or to the company?
As your CEO, I would like to tell you what traces I would like to leave behind to you and SIMMTECH. Long story short, I would like to leave 'Integrity.'
For a long time, we have shared "Integrity" as our core value. As you know the difference between 'Integrity' and 'Honesty' is that 'Integrity' also encompasses the behavior of conducting oneself with honesty.
The Book of Luke in the bible has a story as below.
Luke 10:25. On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
26. "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"
27. He answered, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
28. "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."These words tell us that the key to the eternal life is in going further than understanding and putting into action. However, in reality it is not easy to do what you think is right. Everyone has experiences in compromising with the world due to fear, humiliation or selfishness.
Let me tell you about the logic behind choosing "Integrity" as our core value.
Anyone can make a mistake, but most don't want to reveal their mistakes for various reasons. For this reason, I thought that having the courage to reveal our mistakes would play an important role to prevent a bigger problem in the future. Even with our customers, being candid and putting everything on the table to ask for help whenever we had problems became the very foundation for establishing deep trust.
Understanding how every person makes mistakes and being frank about it to find solution with colleges and bosses together is the true meaning of 'Integrity', and this is exactly what I would like us to take to our hearts.
How can we judge one another? However, an organizational culture that recognizes good deeds and admits mistakes is what I would truly like to pass on.
All those who lead SIMMTECH,
The global economy is worse than anticipated, and this recession is expected to last long. A road that we must choose in such difficult and unpredictable situation may be like the path illustrated in the picture above. Unlike a broad and comfortable road that everyone else takes, it may be a lonely, narrow and rugged one.
Let's "face the reality and respond properly" in any situation, so that we can leave a trace of 'Integrity' to our next generation.
