As you all know, this year’s slogan is “Focus.” What should we focus on? That focus should be on major products for our key customers. Thus far, I believe that this very focus played an important role in emerging from difficult and ever-changing economic periods. Today, let us not only put our focus on the company, but on our relationships with others, customers, and Globalization.
First, let’s think about relationships with those who are dearest to me. In the bible, as some of you may already know, there is a story about David and Goliath. David was the second king of Israel, while Saul was the first king. Following the tradition, both were blessed with pouring oil on their head by Samuel (high priest) when each became a king. Although David and Saul had one thing in common, which was being blessed by God to be the king, they had a fundamental difference; Saul thought that 'the Lord is on my side,' whereas David believed that 'I am on the Lord's side.' That difference made a huge change in their lives. God was pleased with that he and his descendants were very much loved by God, and he still is respected by Israelites even till today.
Let's take a look at our relationships. First our families, colleagues, friends, and etc. I believe that life is all about making continuous relationships with these people around us. When I was younger, I used to categorize people as those who will be on my side and those who won’t. And such narrow-mindedness resulted in losing many valuable relationships. If I were like David, thinking whether I was on their side or not, I’m sure I would’ve had better results. I know it won’t be easy, but I wholeheartedly suggest that we all start having such minds when interacting with others.
Secondly, let's think about our relationships with the customers. Long time ago, a man went on a trip in search of a good friend. For a long time, he traveled to many places, but ended up disappointing in people. So, he decided to change his focus, and made up his mind to be a good friend himself. Then, not long after, he surprisingly found many good friends.
We are not a service provider, but a company that manufactures PCBs. However, we are a made-to-order manufacturing company that focuses on specific customers, which makes our relationships with customers just as important as that of a service provider. As you know, there is no customer that is a 100% fit to us. Learning from the story above, if we become a good friend to our customers and understand their needs, I strongly believe that we will not only secure loyal customers, but also acquire more customers in the future.
Third, we need to focus on Globalization. As I mentioned in one of the previous letter, we started on a small road in Cheongju, entered main streets, and now got on the freeway that goes international. I am very proud to announce SIMMTECH's entry in Chinese market by setting up our 6th plant in Xian, China. In the future, we will advance to Japan and Taiwan to strengthen SIMMTECH's Global Network. I look forward to seeing many SIMMTECH people with international perspectives to embrace various ethnicities and culture.
During our September TMT few days ago, I mentioned the difference between trees that can withstand a typhoon and those that cannot. How deep each tree was rooted in the ground ultimately determined the fate of the tree. Normally we don't see the tree's root, but when faced with a strong typhoon, the root determines the survival of that tree. Everyone in SIMMTECH, including myself, why don’t we put our focus on our surroundings, customers, and global future to take a big step towards this difficult yet exciting adventure?
