Do not conform any longer to the pattern of the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.
- Romans 12:2 -
Dear SIMMTECH Family.
Like I did during the previous MBR, I would like to share my thoughts once again on how we react to different situations in our daily life.
First, let’s take a look at the figures below.
As you can see, figure A shows a person repeating the same action like a squirrel running in a treadmill. And figure B shows a person taking spiral steps upwards, and improving.
Where does this difference come from?
It comes from where our reactions are focused on.First, let’s think about the issues that arise from our manufacturing site.
It’s a fact that there have been quality issues quite many times. If we do not find the cause of the problems from us, but from our customers and blame them instead, saying “the demands were unreasonable in the first place ", or "it’s unfortunate to be making the most complicated products," we will not be able to identify the roots of the problem to solve them. And consequently, we will continue to make the same mistakes, just like figure A.
However, if we find the causes from ourselves to identify the reason for the quality issues, the defects will not end up as a pain, but rather train us to make improvements and move forward like in figure B.
The same logic applies to the conflicts between departments. When the opinions are different or there is a conflict of interest, there will be cooperation instead of opposition, if we find the causes of conflicts within our own department instead of blaming others. And we will progress upwards much like figure B.
During our previous meeting, I mentioned that it would be helpful to apply this logic to your personal life. If you apply this to your relationships with your spouse, parents, family, or friends, and find the causes of the problems from yourself, then you will be more mature to be altruistic to care others.
Maturing of our characters will naturally make us to be more considerate and respectful of others.
To do this, we have to change the way we think, but as I had mentioned several times before it can very difficult for everybody, including myself. Do you remember the metaphor that goes "rain drops that fell on Mt. Baekdu made streams and creeks to eventually create Amnok and Duman River"? Once a stream is created, water always flows towards that direction. Likewise, if a circuit of thinking is created, we will react accordingly in any given situation.
Most of us, including me, are self-centered, so it is not easy for us to change our focus to other people, departments or our customers. That is why we find it very difficult to escape from the treadmill and stop making the same mistake over and over. Anyone can be like figure A, but not everyone can be like figure B. We decided to draw several speakers to share their experiences related to figures A and B from this coming MBR meeting.
Now, let’s change the way we think to escape from our old selves and change our focus from “me” to other people, departments and our customers.
